Happy Thursday!
Pour the double-double, dust off the core boxes, and let's see who hit something overnight.
A Suriname gold hole just turned into one of the best intercepts a small-cap junior has drilled all year.
Two Alberta producers agreed to become one $10 billion company, and Enbridge went shopping for more pipe less than a day after naming its next CEO.
Gold, silver, and copper all gave back ground on a hot inflation print, even with the Hormuz risk premium still sitting in the oil price.
Six stories, an eight-line Dashboard, and a stat about what one drill hole's best ten metres is actually worth. Let's dig in.
Commodity Ape Quick Stats
🥇 Gold (spot): $4,358.90/oz 📉
🥈 Silver (spot): $64.35/oz 📉
🟠 Copper: $6.44/lb 📉
☢️ Uranium (U₃O₈ spot): ~$89.50/lb ➖
🛢️ WTI Crude: $99.40/bbl 📈
🔥 Natural Gas (Henry Hub): ~$2.83/MMBtu ➖
🍁 TSX-V Composite: 964.80 ➖
💵 U.S. Dollar (DXY): ~98.95 📈
Gold, silver, and copper all pulled back on a hot US inflation print today, even as oil holds its Hormuz-driven gain. Worth a quick confirm before send: uranium and Henry Hub are approximate, and DXY is a same-morning read that may move before this lands in inboxes.
The Motherlode: Founders Metals Drills One of Antino's Best Holes Ever in Suriname
What happened. $FDMIF ( ▲ 3.6% ) Founders Metals reported a new step-out hole, FR251, at the West Zone of its Antino Gold Project in southeastern Suriname: 27.0 metres at 20.38 g/t gold from 100.0 metres depth, including a bonanza 10.0 metres at 43.26 g/t gold.
Management called it one of the best single intercepts in Antino's history.
The West Zone sits 1.2 kilometres west of the established Froyo Zone, in ground that had never been drilled before May 2026.
Why it happened. This follows June's discovery hole FR217 (53.1 metres at 1.21 g/t gold from surface, roughly 50 metres north of today's hole), so the company is stitching together a genuinely new mineralized corridor rather than chasing one lucky intercept.
What it means for your position. Gold pulled back today (more on that above), but a widening, high-grade discovery zone is exactly the setup that keeps re-rating regardless of the day's spot price.
Nothing here is a resource yet, it's still step-out drilling, but hitting on all seven of the first seven holes into new ground is a rare rate this early in a program.
Drill Bit Tech & Trends: Washington Puts $73 Million Into Building the "Mine of the Future"
Full disclosure, this is a policy story, not a company one. A genuine AI-targeting or processing-breakthrough item didn't clear a fetch-verified primary source in today's window.
The US Department of Energy's Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation announced $73 million spread across four "Mine of the Future" testbed projects (Innovative Wireless Technologies, the University of Arizona, the University of Missouri, and Southern Methodist University), meant to build real-world proving grounds for automation and digital-mining technology.
The skeptic's footnote: government funding for a testbed is a long way from a mine actually running the tech.
File it under trend, not breakthrough, but worth watching who lands the first contracts.

The Tailings: Perseverance Metals Finds a New Nickel System Next Door to a Real Mine
$PMIXF ( ▼ 23.2% ) Perseverance Metals discovered a near-surface, magmatic nickel-copper sulphide-bearing intrusion at its "Osprey" target on the Voyageur Project in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, about 65 kilometres west of the producing Eagle mine.
Four diamond holes tested a blind geophysical target; three intersected an intrusion with a similar composition to the one hosting Eagle and the Tamarack nickel-copper-PGM deposit, with visible pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, and likely pentlandite.
So what. This is a genuinely new discovery, not an extension of something already known, and the company is planning immediate follow-up drilling plus more geophysics.
Early days, but a nickel system that looks geologically like its neighbour's actual mine earns a spot on the watchlist.
The Gusher: Tamarack Valley and Headwater Merge Into a $10 Billion Clearwater Giant
What happened. $TVE.TSX ( ▲ 1.12% ) Tamarack Valley Energy and Headwater Exploration (TSX: HWX) agreed to an all-stock merger valued at roughly $10 billion (about US$7.2 billion), creating the largest pure-play producer in Alberta's Clearwater oil fairway.
Headwater holders get one Tamarack share for every share they own; once it closes, existing Tamarack shareholders hold 66.5% of the combined company and Headwater shareholders the remaining 33.5%.
Why it happened. Put together, the combined company runs more than 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day, over 300 million barrels of 2P reserves, and more than 3,000 drilling locations.
Non-core assets (Mannville, Saskatchewan thermal heavy oil, and New Brunswick's McCully gas field) are being spun into a new listed company, Tributary Exploration, so shareholders get the core Clearwater business without carrying the leftovers. T
amarack is also raising its quarterly dividend 20%, to $0.06 a share, effective December 2026.
What it means for your position. Steve Buytels takes over as President and CEO on January 1, 2027, with founder Brian Schmidt moving up to Executive Chairman, and closing is targeted for mid-fourth-quarter 2026.
A bigger, more liquid Clearwater pure-play with a raised dividend is a straightforward re-rate thesis, as long as the promised synergies show up once Tributary is actually spun free.
The Pipeline: Enbridge Buys Tallgrass Energy's Crude Business for US$2.55 Billion
$ENB.TSX ( ▲ 0.03% ) Enbridge agreed to buy the crude oil transportation, storage, and marketing business of privately held Tallgrass Energy for US$2.55 billion cash, priced at roughly 10 to 11 times forward EBITDA.
The deal hands Enbridge 75% of the Pony Express Pipeline (1,050 miles, about 460,000 barrels a day, moving Rockies crude to Cushing), 51% of the Powder River Gateway system, roughly 8.4 million barrels of storage across nine terminals, and Tallgrass's Stanchion Energy marketing arm.
It also folds in a US$300 million Pony Express expansion that lifts capacity to roughly 515,000 barrels a day by late 2027, adding to Enbridge's $41 billion secured growth backlog.
Enbridge is funding part of the purchase with a CDN$2.6 billion bought-deal equity offering announced the same day; closing is targeted for later this year, pending US antitrust clearance.
Skeptic's footnote: this is the second straight edition with Enbridge anchoring a section, after Wednesday's CEO transition story.
Completely different matter this time (an acquisition, not a leadership change), but worth a flag since one company anchoring back-to-back editions is unusual even for a name this size.
The Flare Stack: Prospera Energy Reprices the Same Financing for a Fourth Time
$GXRFF ( ▼ 7.38% ) Prospera Energy announced a non-brokered private placement of up to 400,000,000 units at $0.03 each (up to $12.0 million gross), replacing a version of the same offering already announced, then repriced, in June and twice in August.
The company also settled $72,671.43 of vendor debt by issuing 1,782,746 shares.
So what. A financing that keeps getting re-announced at a lower price is rarely a great sign on its own, but it's also the kind of unglamorous small-cap survival story that belongs in this slot precisely because it isn't dressed up as anything more than what it is.
Stat of the Day: Six Thousand Dollars a Tonne
That's roughly the in-situ gold value sitting inside just the best ten-metre slice of today's Motherlode hole at Founders Metals' West Zone: 43.26 grams of gold per tonne, at today's roughly $4,359-an-ounce spot price.
Do the math (43.26 grams divided by 31.1035 grams per ounce, times spot) and every single tonne of that rock is carrying close to $6,060 worth of gold, before anyone's built a mill, dug a pit, or spent a cent getting it out.
Read between the lines: that number isn't a resource, a mine plan, or a promise.
It's the raw, undiluted, best-case math on one interval out of one hole.
Most of a deposit runs a tiny fraction of this grade, which is exactly why numbers like this get circled in red on a geologist's desk, and why it still takes a few hundred more holes before anyone starts pouring concrete.

The raw gold value in one drill hole's best ten metres, before a single truck moves.
Keep your grades high, and your dilution low.
